The British Asian Option

چکیده
Following the economic rationale of [7] and [8] we present a new class of Asian options where the holder enjoys the early exercise feature of American options whereupon his payoff (deliverable immediately) is the ‘best prediction’ of the European payoff under the hypothesis that the true drift of the stock price equals a contract drift. Inherent in this is a protection feature which is key to the British Asian option. Should the option holder believe the true drift of the stock price to be unfavourable (based upon the observed price movements) he can substitute the true drift with the contract drift and minimise his losses. The practical implications of this protection feature are most remarkable as not only is the option holder afforded a unique protection against unfavourable stock price movements (covering the ability to sell in a liquid option market completely endogenously) but also when the stock price movements are favourable he will generally receive high returns. We derive a closed form expression for the arbitrage-free price in terms of the rational exercise boundary and show that the rational exercise boundary itself can be characterised as the unique solution to a nonlinear integral equation. Using these results we perform a financial analysis of the British Asian option that leads to the conclusions above and shows that with the contract drift properly selected the British Asian option becomes a very attractive alternative to the classic (European) Asian option.

Variance analysis of control variate technique and applications in Asian option pricing
This paper presents an analytical view of variance reduction by control variate technique for pricing arithmetic Asian options as a financial derivatives. In this paper, the effect of correlation between two random variables is shown. We propose an efficient method for choose suitable control in pricing arithmetic Asian options based on the control variates (CV). The numerical experiment shows ...
متن کاملOption Pricing in the Presence of Operational Risk
In this paper we distinguish between operational risks depending on whether the operational risk naturally arises in the context of model risk. As the pricing model exposes itself to operational errors whenever it updates and improves its investment model and other related parameters. In this case, it is no longer optimal to implement the best model. Generally, an option is exercised in a jump-...
متن کاملClinical practice and community medicine.
The idea for a study of the attitudes of trainees and recently appointed specialists in community medicine arose out of discussions I had with successive classes of trainees on the MFCM course run by the Southern Universities Consortium. The object was to determine whether trainees considered it desirable that specialists should have the option of continuing to practise clinical medicine on a p...
متن کاملAsian Option Pricing and Volatility
An Asian option is a path-depending exotic option, which means that either the settlement price or the strike of the option is formed by some aggregation of underlying asset prices during the option lifetime. This thesis will focus on European style Arithmetic Asian options where the settlement price at maturity is formed by the arithmetic average price of the last seven days of the underlying ...
متن کاملPricing the Asian Call Option
Background material on measure-theoretic probability theory and stochastic calculus is provided in order to clarify notation and inform the reader unfamiliar with these concepts. These fields are then employed in exploring two distinct but related approaches to fair option pricing: developing a partial differential equation whose solution, given specified boundary conditions, is the desired fai...
